CARBONDALE, COLORADO
This residence was designed with context and efficiency in mind, to achieve both community connectivity and sustainability. The program incorporates a main residence and a privately accessed ADU, which adds density and helps with the local housing shortage. Further, a pairing of passive solar elements, from strategic overhangs, solar-mass, and balanced windows employ strategies to harness and reject the southern sun during heating and cooling seasons, while also providing outside living spaces that connect the home to the community and fostering neighborhood vibrancy.
