When it comes to site integrated design, we feel this sets a pretty good example. In a community of atypical homes amongst the sandstone canyons of Western Colorado, we discovered an opportunity to restore a damaged and neglected home within the mountain. The appeal of this native Puebloan approach to environmental control and housing brought forward to current time anchored our interest in the project. With a due south exposure for light and 5 sides of solid rock surrounding, the architectural front is positioned to provides all the heating a cooling needs in this true four-season environment. A carefully considered solar tempered overhang with integral glazing and ventilation set up the interior for comfort and quality. Beyond this, the natural beauty of the south-west landscape takes center stage for a home truly connected to its environment.
